ADEMU at the European Parliament: review and presentation
On 27 March, ADEMU attended the European Parliament in Brussels to present its preliminary research findings at an internal seminar at the Directorate‑General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG-ECFIN), followed by a public session in the premises of the European Parliament. DG-ECFIN is responsible for EU policies promoting economic growth, higher employment, stable public finances and financial stability, all of which have been the focus of ADEMU research.

Registration open: Sovereign Debt in the 21st Century 5-6 April 2018, Toulouse School of Economics
Registration is open for the two-day ADEMU conference hosted by Toulouse School of Economics on 5 and 6 April. Even 10 years after the start of the global financial crisis, and seven years after the beginning of the European sovereign debt crisis, large stocks of government debt remain a significant concern in advanced as well as developing countries. A major objective of the ADEMU project is to contribute to the scientific discussion on the future design of European institutions to deal with financial stability and debt sustainability. ADEMU co-ordinator Giancarlo Corsetti (University of Cambridge) will deliver a keynote speech on ‘Macroeconomic Stabilisation in a Currency Union’ at this conference on 19 and 20 March in Frankfurt. He’ll be joined by representatives from the European Central Bank, Riksbank, Banco de España and the IMK (Macroeconomic Policy Institute, as well as researchers and academics from around Europe. A Roundtable on the French and German Economists’ Proposal for the EMU
The aim of the roundtable was to discuss the proposal for euro-area reform authored by 14 authoritative French and German economists, recently published as a CEPR Policy Insight paper.
