Post-ADEMU workshop at the Barcelona GSE Summer Forum, 21-22 June 2018

The three-year Horizon 2020-funded ADEMU Project ended came to an end on the 31 May, following its final conference on the 9th and 10th of May in Florence. Although the research element of the project is over, its findings and proposals will be shared widely over the coming weeks. However, there will be one final opportunity to discuss the research and findings of ADEMU at a workshop which will take place as part of the Barcelona GSE Summer Forum, an annual event attended by around 700 economists, researchers and academics from around the world.

This post-project ADEMU workshop will take place on June 21-22 at the Barcelona GSE, and will reassess the overall framework of the EU with regard to monetary union, fiscal union and banking union.

The workshop, which will include a keynote speech from ADEMU scientific coordinator Ramon Marimon, will discuss the results and findings of the project and include (but is not not limited to)  the sustainability of sovereign debt and of union-wide sharing mechanisms, the assessment of the short-run stabilizing potential of fiscal policy in a currency union, and the evaluation and
improvement of existing institutional mechanisms for controlling macroeconomic and
financial imbalances, including reform of the European banking sector.
